___________________________________ Freddie Mercury – A Life In His Own Words is the closest thing to a Freddie Mercury autobiography that the world will ever be granted.
Spurred on by an almost uncontrollable ambition, Freddie Mercury drove Queen to the heights of rock stardom and forged his own reputation as one of the greatest entertainers and performers to ever grace the planet. Irresistible and precise with his songs, witty and erudite with his words, Freddie Mercury is also one of the most quotable rock stars of all time; this book compiles, collates and reinvigorates his words to stitch together a portrait of this most enigmatic of geniuses.
This edition, compiled and edited by Greg Brooks and Simon Lupton, includes a foreword by Freddie Mercury’s mother.
“Freddie Mercury: His Life in his Own Words” is probably the most accurate and humerous account of his life ever written. The book is compiled almost totally from interviews he gave during his 20 year career, so there won’t be much that’s new or uknown to his more ardent fans, but that did not detract from the book’s appeal for me. I found it amusing and insightful and felt that Freddie’s comments and criticisms of society and the music business are still extremely relevant in today’s world. The Foreword is written by Freddie’s Mum Jer Bulsara so you know it has the family’s seal of approval.
I read it over the course of one weekend – a major feat for me! I just couldn’t put it down. As I was reading it I could actually picture Freddie saying these words – nothing is contrived or forced, it is wholely and solely “Freddie Mercury – in his own words!” This man truly is a Legend.
True fans will not be disappointed with this book! Now, if only Brian, Roger and John would do the same…….!!
